Updates to uShip Payments Cancellation Policy

As of today at 4:00 PM Central Time, we have made updates to the cancellation policy for shipments booked through uShip Payments. This policy will apply only to shipments booked on or after this date.

In the event of a cancellation for a shipment booked through uShip Payments, the shipping customer will receive an automatic refund of 90% of the accepted bid price and a credit equal to the Auction Service fee plus 10% of the accepted bid price. These credits may be applied toward booking the same or any other shipment within one year of the original cancellation date.

Cancellations are a pain point for customers and service providers alike, and we believe that this change will help (a) reduce the number of cancellations and (b) increase the number of rebooked shipments when cancellations do occur. Previously, the customer received a full refund of the accepted bid price for cancellations for a shipment booked through uShip Payments – with the new policy, the customer is more committed, but because they receive a credit rather than being charged a cancellation fee, they are not unfairly penalized and can still use their credit to ship their item.

The cancellation policy for shipments booked through the Booking Deposit option remains unchanged. Any shipments that were booked before 12/22/2011 at 4:00 PM Central Time will be subject to the old cancellation policy.
