Meet the Power Carrier Who Lives Up to His Username

 uShip Power Carrier

Behind every profile are real people. Wildbullrider360 is Chad Lorah, a 28 year-old Power Carrier and, you guessed it, a bull rider. We sat down with him to learn a little bit more about the man behind the keyboard and wheel.

uShip: Aside from trucking, what’s the most interesting job you’ve ever had?

Chad: I was a bull rider before I started driving trucks. My buddy said I’d be good at it, so I gave it a shot. My best ride was 90 points on a bull named Spook.

U: How long have you been involved in the trucking industry?

C: My family has owned a hot-shotting business for over ten years and I’ve been driving trucks for about eight years.

U: What kind of truck are you currently driving?

C: A 2012 Dodge 3500 one-ton dually pulling a flat-bed trailer. I’ve only had it for about a year and it already has over 102,000 miles on it.

U: That’s a lot of ticks on the odometer. What are your favorite things to ship?

I enjoy shipping heavy equipment the most. It’s easier to load than a car or something. You can load up two pieces of heavy equipment in no time at all but it’ll take you three or four cars to make the same amount. And you could be waiting around for a couple of days on those cars. When you’re a truck driver, time is money.

U: Being on the road gives you a great opportunity to see the country. What’s your favorite city to drive through?

C: I enjoy driving in Florida because they have good roads but there are way too many cops. Getting to Florida isn’t exactly the easiest. I would say my favorite route has to be from Texas to California. There are always tons of loads going between the two. Just avoid L.A. – they have the absolute worst traffic.

U: There has to be a great soundtrack to go along with some of those views. What’s your favorite type of music to listen to on the road?

C: I’m a country boy but enjoy anything that keeps me awake on the road. Anything that’s not too mainstream. You have to be able to listen to your load too. You don’t want something to go wrong and not be able to hear it. We do walk-arounds at every stop to make sure everything looks good. I would say one of my favorite artists right now is Brantley Gilbert.

U: We know a lot of country boys. What’s your favorite football team?

C: I played some football growing up. I don’t really have a favorite college team but the Cowboys are my favorite pro team.

U: Alright, now more about business. What drew you to uShip?

C: I liked the format and enjoyed setting my own price and cutting out the middle man. It used to be that we didn’t get to call the shots and through uShip we get to set our own price. It’s much more beneficial in the long-run.

U: What kind of tech do you use to help run your business?

C: I use a laptop to find extra loads while on the road. But I also use my iPhone too since I can do most everything on it these days. Been thinking about getting an iPad to replace my laptop but haven’t yet. I use the uShip app along with some other trucking apps too.

Thanks Chad!
