Golf Cart Tax Credit Subsidy on Par with Full-Size Electric Vehicles
A uShipper and office golf fanatic brought this to our attention: today may be the best time ever to buy a golf cart. According to the Wall Street Journal, the federal tax credit for electric and plug-in vehicles also applies to electric golf carts, assuming they are road worthy. The credit can cover up to $5,500, leading some vendors to offer special deals. The WSJ lays out one golf cart dealer’s plan to keep in the green:
“Golf Cart Man is referring to his offer in which you can buy the cart for $8,000, get a $5,300 tax credit off your 2009 income tax, lease it back for $100 a month for 27 months, at which point Golf Cart Man will buy back the cart for $2,000.”
Clearly this is a loophole that people are exploiting. Nonetheless, if you’ve been in the market for a golf cart, this may be the perfect time to buy. Here are some golf carts shipped through uShip – and we fully expect more will move through the marketplace before the IRS ruling changes at year’s end.
