And you CAN too!
uShip just completed our 2 week long canned food drive as part of CANville – the Capital Area Food Bank’s (CAFB) annual drive organized by BuildASign.com.
The initiative consists of community minded businesses collecting monetary donations and physical cans to donate to the CAFB. Collectively, participating Austin businesses help the CAFB meet its Summer Meals That Matter campaign goal of distributing 500,000 meals. To reach this goal, each company will donate a minimum of $250 towards the drive.
But there’s a twist.
Each participating company competes against each other by constructing an Austin landmark entirely out of canned goods to be donated to CAFB following the competition. A minimum of 1,000 cans is required.
The 2014 contest raised 24,668 in can donations and $12,000 in cash overall. These donations will provide approximately 54,668 meals for hungry Central Texans. As part of that, uShip donated over $1,000 dollars and constructed a rather tall iconic Austin landmark to donate.
Can you guess what it is?
